Friction!

On Thursday we conducted a really fun experiment that was totally not stolen from 5X! (just kidding, all credit to Miss Cosby). We measured friction using a Newton Meter by dragging a 'boat' (a 1kg weight) over sand. We then deciced that to reduce the friction, we needed to make the surface smoother. We then used wooden planks (lolly pop sticks) on top of the sand. This reduced the friction and the results showed fewer newtons measured than in the first experiment, because the surface was smoother.
