Tudor Primary School

Welcome to the new academic year!

The Tudor Team is looking forward to seeing you all...

I would like to start this 'news item' by saying that I hope you all had an enjoyable break. The weather has been rather disappointing but I am sure that the children had fun spending time with friends and family during the last 6 weeks.

The Tudor Teaching Team have been in school a lot during the holidays and I know that they are keen to 'get going' with their new classes. Our school INSET today (1st September) was all about ensuring high quality teaching and learning in the classroom- the staff had some super ideas and it was clear to see how these ideas have 'evolved' from the beginning of last academic year. Ms Smith was also able to share her plans for 'Values Education' with the team and I know that your children will be able to talk confidently about this in the future!

To provide additional information about what is 'in store' for your children this year, we will be providing 'Meet the Teacher' meetings early in the term. The dates are as follows:

Monday 11th September- Year 1 (Meeting in 1P- Mrs Allen's room)

Tuesday 12th September- Year 2 (Meeting in 2R- Miss Adam's room)

Wednesday 13th September- Year 3 (Meeting in 3T- Miss Scott's room)

Thursday 14th September- Year 4 (Meeting in 4U- Mrs Graham's room)

Friday 15th September- Year 5 (Meeting in 5X- Miss Cosby's room)

Monday 18th September - Year 6 (Meeting in 6Z- Mr Gayle's room)

Each meeting will start at 2.45pm (finishing just before the end of school).

Keep an eye on this website for important news and school information. The calendar is being updated and you are already able to see when class assemblies are taking place during the first term. Other events such as consultation evenings, etc will also be added so that you are able to make future plans.

In respect of the site, it has been a busy few weeks in school but it is a little disappointing that our 'upgrades' have not been fully completed. Whilst the internal courtyards are now ready for children to use, the Year 1 garden area will not be completed until the end of the first week- some rather troublesome roots required specialist equipment to get them removed and this has postponed the completion date.

Our new 'internal fencing' is now complete- this really does improve the security of our site and I must say that I think it looks rather impressive. A big thank you to 'Hemel Fencing' who did a super job in completing this important 'upgrade'!

Please do remember the 'adjustments' to the school uniform policy for this new academic year. Black (and only black) footwear is now expected for all children.

I must say that I am excited about the team that we have in place for this year- our new teachers are looking forward to meeting you all and I am sure that  the children will help them settle in to our school.

See you all on Monday!

Mr Weightman
