The Very Hungry Caterpillar

This week, we have been reading the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle.

We welcomed our very own class pets this week, caterpillars! To make sure we knew how to take care of them, we have been learning about the life cycle of a caterpillar and created our own life cycle collages to show what we had learnt. We used the vocabulary, first, next and finally to describe how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly.

Some children were very excited to spot some eggs on a leaf in our outdoor area. We looked closely at them and discussed the similarities and differences between those eggs and caterpillar eggs.

Please find attached below our Redwood Rainbow for next week to find out what we will be learning about and some challenges you might like to try at home.
