The Earth has layers... like onions?

This week we have been focusing on the topic work on understanding of the structure of the Earth and volcanoes. We were all able to understand the layers of the Earth and label parts of a volcano alongside this. Most of us were able to understand exactly how volcanoes were made. This has fit in really well with the topic of up Pompeii all about ancient Rome.

During our English lesson, we wrote as a reporter all about the eruption of Mount Vesuvius back in 79AD. Here is an example from a piece of work:

'Destructive and deadly, mighty and massive, Mount Vesuvius erupted. One astronomical cloud of ash turned the day into a sad black knight. Herculanium, which was a city closer to the eruption of vicious Vesuvius than Pompeii, was sadly completely wiped out in an instance. A blanket of hot, thick, molten rock swamped, the city, which was once a beautiful place, full of happy civilians, and many memories.'
