Year 3 have been Rome-ing around St Albans park to learn more about Ancient Rome.

Our day began by walking up to the remains on the roman wall and town gate, we learnt that the wall and gate were built to keep the town safe from invaders and control what was going in and out of the town. We also looked at why the gate has 4 entrances of different sizes, 2 were for horse and carts and the other 2 were for pedestrians. We then walked to the hypocaust and mosaic, it was really interesting to look at one in real life. Next we had lunch!  After lunch, we took part in an artefact handling workshop, we got to touch and hold real life artefacts that were used by real people in Roman times. We also learnt about some people and their lives during the time they lived in Verulamium. Finally we had a look around the museum, and learnt lots of different facts about daily life, food and farming even how they buried their dead.
