Q: What did the ocean say to the pirate?
A: Nothing, it just waved.

Good morning Year 4,

We hope you've all had a safe and relaxing weekend.

This morning, your first task is to spend 15 minutes reading and then 15 minutes discussing the text and responding to recall questions with your parent/carer. You could record these in a notebook or on some spare paper. Remember, most recall questions begin with who, what, when, where. or 'find and copy' . They're all about finding information from the text.

For English, you need to complete the first two pages (P.4 and 5) of your CGP book. Then, write a setting description of a picture of your choice (it could be a picture from a book or somewhere you have visited before). Remember to use lots of powerful adjectives, fronted adverbials and include all five senses. Please do email a photo of this work to 4u@tudor.herts.sch.uk or 4v@tudor.herts.sch.uk.

After break, for Maths, you need to complete the first two pages (P.4 and 5) of your CGP book. Then, do the below long division questions (this was the written method we were working on last week). You can ask your parent or carer to use a calculator on a phone to check the answers or we will post them at 3pm.

a. 735 ÷ 7 =

b. 894 ÷ 6 =

c.  678 ÷ 3 =

d. 652 ÷ 4 =

e. 1179 ÷ 9 =

After lunch, for Topic, we are looking at historic pirates. Research various historic pirates and then create a WANTED poster for the most terrifying pirate of your choice. Make sure to include a picture, description and the crimes that he/she is wanted for. Please do email a photo of this work to 4u@tudor.herts.sch.uk or 4v@tudor.herts.sch.uk.

After topic, you can spend thirty minutes on spellingshed.com practising your spellings or maths shed (which is the same login as your spelling shed) to practise times tables.

Finally, for the last thirty minutes of your learning day, take a look at Mr Higgins's fitness activities or the fitter futures website (login is on the news section of the website). It's so important to keep moving and to spend at least thirty minutes doing some kind of physical activity, so make sure you put aside time for this in your time table.

Miss Sentance and Miss Grundy are really excited to see all the amazing work you will get up to today! Please email us a photo of your day's work or just give us a general update (this can be children or adults) on how everything is going :)

All answers to CGP and Maths questions will be displayed before 3pm on the Year 4 blog. Don't forget to keep a check on our class dojo page as we will be giving dojos out for great work and effort!

Have a great day and we look forward to hearing from you all!
