Walk to School week - 15th to 19th May

Why bother with Walk to School week?

With so many children leading sedentary lifestyles, it is important to encourage active school journeys which can help towards children achieving their recommended 60 minutes of activity every day.  With regular physical activity children improve cardiorespiratory fitness, build strong bones and muscles, control weight and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.

To incentivise the children, they will be earning 'extra playtime' outside for their whole class, for every active journey made.  Expect them to nag you into making a more active journey!

Parents - please also note the 'fact and fiction' around why it is not good to keep your engine running.  I think you would be surprised by some of the points.
