A parent support event of huge importance is taking place at Tudor Primary in a few weeks. In many ways it could be one of the most important parent events that we have ever provided…

On Tuesday 24^th September, Richard Maskrey and School Consulting Ltd will be presenting a free information session in the school hall on E-Safety and how to keep your children safe online. Richard is a renowned speaker who has appeared as a specialist in this area on national television. He has also been the E-Safety Lead for Hertfordshire.

I cannot stress how important it is for parents to have a strong understanding of the dangers that children face in this digital world. In fact, as a teacher who has been in schools for a quarter of a century now, the impact of digital technology has been the biggest change I have seen. Whilst there are many advantages of such innovation, the negative impact and dangers it can create cannot be underestimated. As a parent myself I recognise the difficulties that we all face in the family home too.

Please be aware that digital dangers and concerns have been (and continue to be) one of our main concerns at Tudor Primary. There is a great deal of evidence of highly concerning online behaviours from children and, in many cases, parents have not been aware of what has been occurring. There is no doubt that our children have been putting themselves into real difficulty. During assembly today, the children were able to collectively share a vast number of programs that they use to interact with people online- some of which I had never heard of before.

We have always been pro-active with e-safety but we are looking to further enhance the way we support the school community. We have organised a 2-day school event on e-safety with Richard Maskrey and School Consulting Ltd and this will include the parent presentation. In this meeting he will be able to share with you the latest information on:

• Current online trends and risks
• How to keep your child safe
• Where to find help and support

The meeting will take place in the school hall from 2pm to 3pm. We hope to see as many families as possible represented. After all, we want to empower you and your children when making decisions online.
