This month's value is Patience.  Patience is an important life skill. Patience teaches children the value of not having what they want when they want it, a skill necessary for maturity. Patience can help develop the ability to think through and resolve problems; it can stop impulsiveness and improve behaviour. The value of patience lies in its ability to lead to inner calm and emotional strength of character. Teaching patience by example helps children learn resilience, and how to get on better with those around them.

Everyone’s talking about AI, and with many children and young people hearing about and using AI online, it’s important they have the skills and confidence to make safe choices when they are using smart technology.

This Safer Internet Day we are exploring the impact of AI on all of our lives, looking at how AI can be used for good, and giving advice and guidance that empowers people to use AI safely and responsibly.

The NSPCC have shared some important information below on wider NSPCC resources and support to help keep children safe.

As part of Tudor School’s Harvest Festival commitment this year, our Tudor Owls have chosen a local  charity ‘DENS’ to support.  DENS helps local homeless people in Hemel Hempstead as well as providing foodbanks for all of those in need. 

The good news is that resilience skills can be learned and here at Tudor, we will be equipping our children with the skills needed to tackle this core value.  

For those children who were nominated by their peers and teachers for May's value of Positivity, take a look at the values section of our website.  You will also see one of the class displays that shares our values.

This month's value is positivity.  Having a positive outlook can change situations very much for the better. The children will be exploring this value for the whole of May and I am sure you will all agree, that we can all do with a bit of positivity in our lives!

Ask the children to think about their own box of ultimate happiness. Are there people in that box for whom they could do something special, to show them how much they matter?

Non-uniform day for our chosen charity

Tudor Owls - our school council - have again voted 'The Hospice of St.Francis' to be our chosen charity for this year. 

Their planned event will be a non-uniform day on Friday 4th April (the last day of the Spring term) where they are asking all children to come to school wearing something purple and/or green.  This can be just one item, or they can come dressed from head to toe!  In exchange, we are asking for a voluntary donation of £1 - with all proceeds going to this worthy cause.

The charity not only provides care for those who are diagnosed with a serious illness, but they also work with children and young people to help them express themselves and reflect about their situation in a safe environment through talking, art making, play and storytelling.

The day will start with an assembly for all children from years 1 to 6 (see assembly content below), followed by our KS2 children, linking into a BBC live lesson at 11am.
