3S go to the Chiltern Open Air Museum – preparing the way for 3T!

This week, 3S went on their school trip to the Chiltern Open Air Museum. We had an action-packed day full of lots of historical fun.

A definite highlight was meeting a 'real' Iron Age man and helping him with his house chores. He kindly showed us around his Round House before setting us a few challenges. We had to help grind the corn into flour and then make the bread. Also, we had to help make the butter (which we actually did quite well). Finally, we made our own thumb pots as he didn't have enough for us all – so we made one!

After lunch (and a play in the playground), we had a workshop looking at how archeologists work. We looked at a range of coins and other artefacts. Also, we had a go at putting pottery back together, plus doing our own mini dig!

We really did have a great time and learnt A LOT!
