3S investigate a 'crime scene'
After meeting the 'real-life' police officers, we are looking further at HOW crime is solved now- this time using science.
We couldn't get to a real crime scene, but we had a go at some fornesic-style activities in class.
First we studied fingerprints.

We tried to find out what patterns our prints had.
Then it was a go at seeing how the size of a droplet can tell us how far it has fallen from- blood splatter- but not with real blood!

Finally, we thought about how DNA makes it's own patterns and used filter paper to see what patterns a felt pen would make.
