Dear Parents and Carers,
It is hard to believe that we have completed the first half term of the academic year. We should look back on the first two months with great pride- the children have already achieved a lot and, as the recent pupil progress meetings evidenced, the teachers have an effective understanding of their pupils. As well as amazing things in class, the opportunities outside of the classroom have been well-received. Year 6 have returned from their trip to PGL and they clearly had the most wonderful time.

Thank you to all the staff that accompanied the children to Torquay- the feedback from parents (including lots of thankful emails) has been incredibly positive. The year 6 adventurers are sure to remember their magical week and we can now start looking forward to next year’s trip where the Tudorites will once again be ziplining, abseiling, building rafts, enjoying discos and MORE! If you want to see what the children got up to, check out https://x.com/TudorPGL2025 Our children really DO get the best quality of residential experience at a cost that few (if any!) schools can match… or even get close to!

Important visitor- David Taylor MP for Hemel Hempstead
We were very excited today to receive a visit from David Taylor today. As well as meeting with leaders from the school, our school council- The Tudor Owls- were able to spend time with him to find out more about what he does.

As headteacher, I was incredibly proud how the children engaged with him, asking him some pretty tough questions! We were impressed with his knowledge of the local area as well as how he works hard to improve the lives of those in Hemel Hempstead- and beyond. Children quizzed him on a range of topics including healthcare in our town, what his aspirations are for the future and even if he’d even like to become Prime Minister one day.

I would not be surprised if some of our Tudor Owls enter the world of politics in the future. I think they would do very well indeed. A big thank you to Mr Taylor and his team who have been keen to visit many schools- and we are confident to say that Tudor is the best!

CHRISTMAS at Tudor- it’s getting closer…

Inclusion at Tudor Primary- a message from Miss Reading- our Leader for Inclusion:
It was wonderful to see so many parents at the recent 'Tudor Coffee Morning', focusing on supporting children to be more independent and resilient. Feedback from parents who attended was extremely positive, and I am keen to organise further workshops/coffee mornings with a specific focus based on topics families feel they require support with or would like more information about. If you have a topic in mind, please do let me know. Please do look at the SEND/Family Support Links section of the school website for details of courses currently available to parents/carers, provided by a range of organisations, relating to a variety of different topics.
Class assembly dates for the Autumn term are:
13th Nov- 4U
20th Nov-4V
27th Nov- 3T

Fireworks- The FOT fantastic fireworks spectacular. This will be taking place THIS Friday- 7th November. Do NOT miss out. As the photo shows, it’s a TREMENDOUS display!

Tudor INTERVENTION- let’s create those PERFECT PARTNERSHIPS! As well as the ‘extras’ away from the classroom, Tudor is proud of the additional interventions and support that are offered to the children to help ACCELERATE the ACADEMIC PROGRESS. Our year 5 and 6 free breakfast tuition achieves awesome outcomes and we plan and deliver similar offers to other year groups when needs are identified. One of our most long-standing interventions is the Year 2 Reading Drive and the year 2 parents have made a SUPER start with this. Without doubt, effective early reading makes a huge impact in the development of the children and with the help of parents for 15 minutes each morning, the children really do start to fly! Teaching tips and recommended reads are all shared- we also offer ‘Monday Maths Fun’ as part of this partnership in what is their final year in key stage 1. Whichever intervention or additional opportunity is offered, please do all that you can to support your child to take a full part in it- we should all be proud of our school’s success and a KEY INGREDIENT is the working relationship between home and school.
Speaking of WORKING TOGETHER, are you able to support the Tudor EYFS team with their new InsideTudorEYFS Instagram page? The team would like to share how they create an immersive, creative and inspiring learning environment with a wider audience.

Sharing of ideas can even lead to receiving extra learning resources. Our reputation is strong, let’s share our talent even further!

DENs also visited school recently- they were SUPER thankful to receive the donations from our school community. Find out more about DENS at https://www.dens.org.uk/

Building that Independence- In the last newsletter, I shared some views of the school in regard to expectations on independence of children. What was really PLEASING was the number of supportive and positive comments from parents in response to it. Therefore, to conclude this newsletter, I think it is appropriate to share the news section again. Over recent years there has been a noticeable change in expectations placed on children and this has been evident in a number of ways. As an example, have you noticed how more children are now being brought into school/ transported around in buggies (or even carried) or pulled along by parents on scooters? Furthermore, more children are less able to complete what should be ‘expected’ daily life-skills such as tying shoe laces/ putting coats on. It is the duty of the teaching team to ensure we give our best for children IN school but it is the responsibility of parents to ensure that children are ready for schooling- from toileting to age-appropriate abilities for daily tasks. Be assured that we will support in any way we can but please take some time to consider if your wanting to ‘show support, love and affection’ to your child is actually ‘limiting’ their growth. Let’s be truly aspirational for the children of Tudor!
Thanks for keeping up to date with all things #TeamTudor. We hope to see you all at our fireworks spectacular tomorrow- it really will be an(OTHER) awesome experience to enjoy…
