Tudor Primary School

Lots of visitors to #TeamTudor and GREAT FEEDBACK

Newsletter 8

Dear Parents/Carers,

Even though the weather is rather cold at the moment, the atmosphere in school is certainly warming up. (And this is not just because the school’s new heating system has fired up!) The spring term is well underway and this is the term where the children truly accelerate their learning. Standards in class are pleasing to see and we have been able to share the talent of the teaching team with even more people recently. The school is a part of an exciting county ‘mastery programme’ in maths and, following a visit from one of the advisors, we were asked to be a focus school for the training. This involved enabling a number of others schools to come and watch how we teach maths. We should all feel proud that Tudor continues to be a school that is used as an exemplar for high-quality teaching- check out the comments below!

Not only do our children benefit from such standards EVERY day, the Tudor-suite of additional learning clubs make a huge difference. This photo was taken at about 8.15am on Tuesday of this week- the engagement with Mr Crowder was wonderful to see.

The children were engrossed and such consistent experiences ensure that our children are truly ready to flourish in secondary school. They also ensure that the ‘main learning day’ can focus on the full curriculum spectrum and value all the areas of learning and development that children need.

Our Early Years is also enjoying a busy week. Mrs Price and her team are offering opportunities for parents to observe our provision. Such transparency is able to help families to understand how learning is developed as well as provide guidance on how to support learning at home. In many ways, the feedback we have had from this activity is our most positive feedback of all. The response below is just one of many that we have been DELIGHTED to receive.  THANK YOU!

Helping lead our school FORWARD- Tudor needs YOU!

The governing board of Tudor is a key part of our success. EVERY child benefits from the input and support of it and we are excited that we will be holding some elections for a new parent governor. Can you help? You will already have received a letter and nomination form and we hope that there is a lot of interest in such a position.

AMAZING LEVELS OF INTEREST- AGAIN! At the end of last week, the applications for reception in September 2026 closed. A true indicator in the success of a school is how many families want their children to attend somewhere and we have been overwhelmed once again with the number of applications- especially with the amount of people choosing Tudor as their FIRST choice. Tudor is clearly the place to be! Some spaces remain for nursery- make sure you sign up by Fri 20th March.

Inclusion at Tudor Primary- a message from Miss Reading- our Leader for Inclusion:

Supporting the physical and mental health of everyone at Tudor is a key priority for all staff. All staff are currently completing a range of medical training, including supporting pupils with asthma, diabetes, epilepsy and anaphylaxis. In addition, I have delivered Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health training to all staff. Good mental health is crucial for learning, as it directly affects a child’s ability to focus, engage and achieve. Positive mental wellbeing supports concentration, motivation and social skills. This training ensures that all adults in school are aware of factors that can contribute to poor emotional wellbeing, can recognise signs and symptoms, understand the importance of teaching children about emotions and self-regulation strategies, and are familiar with organisations and resources available to support pupils experiencing mental health difficulties.

Safeguarding at Tudor- our BIGGEST responsibility

The safeguarding tab on our school website is dedicated to supporting your children with their worries and you as their parents/carers regarding any safeguarding concerns.   Members of our safeguarding team are also available should you wish to discuss any concerns with them: Ms Smith (Deputy Head), Mr Weightman (Headteacher), Ms Reading (InCo)and Mrs Green (Pastoral Support Worker).  Alternatively, you can email dsl@tudor.herts.sch.uk and someone from our safeguarding team will contact you. Partnership with Parents! Our Spring Term consultation evenings will be taking place on Tuesday 10th February and Thursday 12th February for all classes from Nursery right through to Year 6. Whilst school is a vital part of any childhood, the influence and input of parents is what truly counts so do make sure your child is represented. Appointments are available on both days from 3.30pm to 7.00pm, and bookings are now LIVE - please make your booking via your Arbor app or desktop site. Should you need any help in booking, follow this link Arbor Help: Parents Consultations

Hangout- our after-school provision is POPULAR- It is always fun to see how engaged the children are each day after school in the hall. There are lots of well-planned activities and the feedback is SUPER. The special events have been incredibly well-received and the team will be offering a Mother’s Day Craft Afternoon on March 10th. Do be quick to book a space if you want your child to take part.

Updates to our music provision- Parents with children who have additional music tuition will have been informed that lessons are to re-commence next week. The school worked quickly to ensure we have been able to continue our partnership with our marvellous music teachers. Whether in class or in extra lessons, Tudor’s provision hits the right notes!

This second newsletter of 2026 certainly has some uplifting information. As well as feedback about the quality of education, it is evident that our reputation continues to grow. The children have also been taking part in pupil feedback activities and we will soon share what they like (and maybe want to change!) about their school. After all it, is the daily experiences of the children that truly count and they are certainly not shy in saying what they think. Members of #TeamTudor remain accessible at all times and we are truly keen to hear your thoughtslet’s continue to work TOGETHER.
