The final half-term is here... so much is going on at #TeamTudor

Dear Parents and Carers,
During our Monday assembly this week, we talked about how the final half term of the school year is so important. Whilst the start of the year is all about building the foundations for progress, the learning outcomes are really taking shape.

Standards of work are impressive and to see how far the children have come this academic year is truly rewarding. The difference is wonderfully evident with our younger children and to see so many of them visit my room to share their work is really special.

The rate of progress the young Tudorites make in early years and Key Stage 1 demonstrates just how important those formative years of school truly are.

Our older children are also FLYING! As part of their ‘Step Back in Time’ theme, year 5 and 6 received some expert dance coaching and choreography just before half term. As well as performing amazingly, the feedback from the coach was awesome:
‘I work across many schools in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. When providing a dance through the decades workshop to the year 5 and 6 students at Tudor primary, I immediately noticed how polite and engaged the children were. They really were so much fun to deliver workshops to, and I look forward to returning to Tudor Primary!’
We also received a visit from county maths advisors before half-term. The following comments were made about our provision:
‘I could stay here all day‘
'A lovely atmosphere’
‘Strong mastery practice across the school’
Such comments from experienced practitioners who work in different schools help us evaluate our effectiveness. The swimming coaches were also full of praise for our children- so much so that they have already requested that they can return to us next year! Well done all!

Tudor making a difference in Dacorum
As you may already know, all children in Dacorum (and further afield) benefit from the support of the Dacorum Transition Project. This was created by me in partnership with other school leaders and it ensures that children (and families) are supported in what can be a challenging time. To hear about the positive difference it has made in our community is awesome and I have now been asked to work in partnership with the attendance team to support with their work. Ensuring all children can benefit from (and enjoy!) a consistent experience of school is so important- after all, you only get one chance at an education. We should all be proud of how Tudor Primary is recognised nationally as an ‘attendance champion’ and I know that this has been achieved with the excellent partnership (and trust) that permeates our school environment. ‘How can we help?’ is always our starting point and this is a huge reason for our joint success. Whilst parents may occasionally disagree with decision-making, responses must remain child-centred.

#TeamTudor for 2026-2027- Transition between years can also see changes to the staff team as situations alter and plans develop. Miss Cohen who is currently on maternity leave has decided to remain full time at home from with her new daughter and we wish her all the best for the future. Mrs Wood will also be taking maternity leave next year and Mr Harvey will be leaving to experience life in Australia. Ensuring that Tudor has the BEST team of teachers is a key priority and I am delighted to share that we received the most interest we have EVER experienced. SO many teachers want to be #TeamTudor and I know you will be thrilled with the team for next year- I will be sharing more details in the next newsletters.
Inclusion at Tudor Primary- a message from Miss Reading- our Leader for Inclusion:
The final 'Tudor Coffee Morning' of this academic year will take place on Tuesday 23rd June at 9am, all parents and carers are welcome to join us. This is a great opportunity to meet other families, share experiences, ask questions, and seek advice and support about any concerns you may have about your child with a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit!
As children prepare for new classes, schools, and routines, change can sometimes feel challenging. Bounce Forward is offering a fully funded four-session online course for parents and carers entitled "Navigating Transitions". The course explores how to support children and young people in facing change and uncertainty with greater mental resilience and confidence. For more information and details on how to book a place, please visit: https://bounceforward.com/our-courses/navigating-transitions-dacorum/

The Friends of Tudor continue to support the school in so many ways- they make a real DIFFERENCE to every child in our school. Planning is underway for the ‘FOT Summer Picnic’ which will take place on Saturday 4th July.

The final half term is especially important for our year 6 leavers and they certainly deserve a fantastic final few weeks.
