The importance of PARTNERSHIP and more FANTASTIC feedback...

Dear Parents and Carers,
To think we are already into October shows how quickly this year is moving at Tudor and we are delighted to share more positive feedback from a recent inspection visit. Tudor continues to seek views on our provision from many sources and the latest report was how we support children when they move into our school. The report makes very pleasing reading and the comments below are just some of the many positive comments included.

We invest a lot into transition and we are proud of our success here. Children (and families) are supported and this is important as such work really is a team effort.
Building independence and preparing YOUR child for THEIR future…
Thank you to those reception parents who attended the meeting about supporting your children at home and in school. During the meeting Mrs Price was able to share some messages about how important it is to help children be more independent. There is a lot of information (and evidence) in the wider press at the moment on how children are not being enabled to develop and progress as much due to parents ‘doing too much’ for them in what are undoubtedly the most vital years of all as they grow. Similar messages were shared last year with the parent community at Tudor and we were thankful for the many supportive responses we received to what is likely to be a sensitive topic. Children should also be enabled to walk into school unaided and follow school routines at all times. Being able to get changed on their own, putting a coat on (and zipping it up!), going to the toilet unaided are stages of progress just like starting to learn their sounds and starting to read.

Like I said, such expectations do start at home and I hope this message comes across in the right way. As I share on (many!) tours, I have worked in a range of schools and settings in my career and the Tudor community is (by far!) my favourite. Our success comes from a strong partnership and the ability to share tough messages is important. As with anything else for your children, if you need our help- come and see us!
Talking of growth and development, the year 6 residential journey was a tremendous experience. I was so proud to be able to join the adventurers on the Thursday and it was evident from the moment I arrived that they were having the most amazing time.

Once again, a key aspect of such opportunities is that children can find the activities mentally and physically demanding. Feedback from everyone has been excellent and we thank the parents of year 6 for their positive messages following the children’s return. Obviously, a special mention to the year 6 staff team that attended for the week- they helped the children make memories that will last a lifetime.

I am delighted to share that JCA 2027 is booked and we truly hope for EVERY child to be enabled to benefit from the trip. If children (or parents) are a little concerned, do come and see us. Mind you, the best feedback will be from the year 6 children who have just returned! In the meantime, check out https://www.jca-adventure.co.uk/activity-centres/condover-hall/activities/
Inclusion at Tudor Primary- a message from Miss Reading- our Leader for Inclusion:
I am pleased to share that, following the departure of our previous Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner, Anne Weedon, from the Mental Health Support Team, we have now been allocated a new practitioner, Jasmine Buckenham. She will be based at Tudor every Thursday and will be available to support groups of pupils, as well as parents and carers. For more information about the support she is able to provide, please follow the link:

Please do contact me if you feel that this additional support may be beneficial to you and your child.
The first Support Plan ‘Window’ of the academic year begins next week. We encourage all parents and carers to be fully involved in reviewing previous targets and working together to plan the next steps for your child. Your knowledge and input are an essential part of this process. Your child’s class teacher will be in touch to arrange a mutually convenient date and time for the meeting.

Secondary school transfer- having the right information- It has been noticeable how the number of ‘myths’ regarding secondary transfer continue to be shared. On occasion, this has led to some difficulty regarding allocations following ‘choices’ made for secondary schools. Whilst schools are not able to influence/ encourage decisions, we can provide opportunities for additional discussion if parents require it. This may be to hear concerns and/ or to signpost parents to information about ‘next steps’. We are here to help!

The Friends of Tudor- Fireworks and Christmas Markets
We are REALLY looking forward to our awesome fireworks spectacular on Friday 6th November. It is always a tremendous evening with a truly spectacular show- come and support YOUR school. Tickets are available via the QR code on the poster. Do NOT miss out!

The FOT are also planning a Festive Christmas Market which will take place in the school hall on Sunday 22nd November.
Lost Property- Have you made sure that you have CLEARLY named your children’s uniform? When uniform is suitably named we can easily get misplaced items back to the correct children/ families. As the weather becomes a little more unsettled, do ensure your child has a (named!) waterproof coat… and remind them to look after it!
Achieving the best outcomes- academically AND socially!
A number of Tudor learning interventions will be shared with the parent community soon and some of these include the offer of free regular (and high-quality!) tuition before school. If your child is offered such support, please enable your child to take part. We are determined for all children to benefit from a broad and balanced experience of school and access a full and inspiring curriculum. Using time outside of ‘traditional school hours’ enables children to increase their confidence and access bespoke support which they can use in class. Let’s work TOGETHER!

Thank you to everyone who supported our harvest festival collection. We should all see Tudor at the HEART of our community. Our reputation is really strong and that is the result of how aspirational we are for our children as well as the PARTNERSHIP we enjoy…
