TREMENDOUS report received from county advisor- STAY INFORMED!
Newsletter 4
Wednesday 21st October 2026
Dear Parents and Carers,
The first half term of the year is drawing to a close and school remains a hive of activity. You may remember in our last newsletter that our early years provision had received super feedback and #TEAMTudor are delighted to share the outcomes of another important county inspection visit which took place last week. We continue to seek views of experienced eyes in regard to our provision within different areas of the new Ofsted framework. This enables us to have more evidence when evaluating our effectiveness and we requested an inspection-style review on our approaches within ‘Behaviour and Attendance’. To ensure full transparency we also selected children to meet the county advisor who had experienced heightened situations in school including challenging behaviour. The comments shown in the table should fill all of our school community with immense pride.

Our provision was highly praised as well as how effectively (and efficiently) we respond when issues have arisen. In a school with well over 400 children and 300 families there is always likely to be situations that can be tough to respond to and I am truly delighted that our provision has had such excellent feedback. The fact that our attendance is also SO HIGH (and county leading!) is a real indictor of the well-being and happiness of our pupils- as well as the trust that is evident between home and school. Well done everyone! Our advisor believes that we should be aiming for the HIGHEST gradings.

The views of our children are vital and they are certainly not shy in sharing their feedback on their school each day. The standard of the work in school is super and the pupils are always keen to share how much they enjoy how the curriculum is presented. Check out the World War 2 themed work within our ‘Is it right to fight?’ topic. It’s not just in school either: the number of children who are keen to share the extra work they have done at home is tremendous.

Something to consider- Our Tudor curriculum which has been designed (and refined!) by Miss Cosby, the SLT and the Tudor teaching team enables the children to develop and improve their use of language and vocabulary. Simply put, new words they experience in one subject can then be utilised in other areas. As well as using the classrooms to immerse themselves in the theme, the impact on their progress is so clear. Parents can really support by asking about their child’s learning at the end of the day. Rather than ‘How was your day?’, ask them about a new fact they have learned… or what they ENJOYED about the day. That ‘reconnection’ with your children at 3.15 is a time to be celebrated. To help this, do consider having your phones off (or in your pockets) at such times. The children are so excited to see you but it is easy to lose such moments with screen distractions.
Inclusion at Tudor Primary- a message from Miss Reading- Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion:
There is a wide range of support available for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families across Hertfordshire. To help families navigate the services available and find the right support, Hertfordshire’s SEND Service Directories, known as ‘Support on a Page’, bring together useful information for different areas of need. There are individual guides covering: Speech, language and communication, Neurodiversity, Mental health and wellbeing, Learning difficulties, Deafness and Sight loss, Physical needs and Behaviours that challenge. To access these resources, visit Hertfordshire Local Offer and type ‘Support on a Page’ into the search bar.
If you are unable to find the information or support you are looking for, please feel free to come and speak to me on the playground or send me an email. I will be very happy to help you find the right support for your family.
Finally, I am delighted to share some lovely feedback from external professionals who have visited Tudor over the past few weeks to support individual children and groups. They commented:
“Tudor is such a welcoming and inclusive school; everybody is so friendly.”
“You have a range of strategies and provision in place to support individual children.”
It is wonderful to hear such positive feedback and to have our dedication to supporting every child.

Sporting Success- As well as fully attending different local sporting festivals, the football leagues are now underway and Tudor continues to perform well. Some of the play on display at the moment is fantastic and Mr Higgins remains delighted with the spirit in which the children represent their school. Achieving the best outcomes- take advantage of help offered! A number of Tudor learning interventions will be shared with parents during the autumn consultations and some of these include the offer of free regular (and high-quality!) tuition before school. If your child is offered such support, please enable your child to take part. The impact for now and the future is significant! Speaking of engagement- Well done everyone for the CONTINUING amazing attendance outcomes for the children of Tudor Primary. As shared previously, we are a recognised ‘attendance champion’ and there is little doubt of the clear relationship with the success of our school and the high levels of attendance. I was so proud that the children were able to confidently (and factually!) share with the county advisor why coming to school is important- for social success as well as academic achievement. Two weeks ago, our complete nursery class even had 100% for the entire week, I do not think I have heard of such brilliance in my career of over 30 years! Well done to 1O who won the coveted attendance cup last week- another PERFECT week of 100%. WOW! 😊
The autumn parent consultation evenings are a vital part of our home/ school partnership and we thank you for all taking an active role in the success of these. Your engagement (and support) is key. When you consider that, by the age of 16, children will have only in been school for 14% of their time spent awake and school can only ever supplement what goes on elsewhere. Children only have one chance at an education…EVERY DAY TRULY COUNTS. Mr Weightman#TeamTudor |
