Welcome to Year 1

Over the next year we will making the most of our time at school, and you will see some of our learning highlights on our blog, which means our families at home will be able to see what we get up to in school.

There are two Year 1 classes at Tudor:

1O - is taught by Miss Gamble and Miss North.

1P - is taught by Miss Foy and Mrs Barry.

Mrs Wood teaches both classes once a week.

 

PE DAYS

This term our P.E. days are on Monday and Thursday.

HOMEWORK:

In Year 1 we expect children to read every day and have their reading records signed by an adult. They will bring home a book linked to their Phonics lessons each week and will keep this for the whole week.  They can also share a library book with an adult.  We will be setting weekly tasks linked to Phonics and Maths. 

Homework will be given out each Friday and will be due in the following Wednesday. Reading books will be changed every Friday.

 

SUMMER TERM THEME – Toy Stories
 

This term, within our ‘Toy Stories’ theme, we will be exploring a variety of toys, old and new.

We will be looking at questions such as:

How have toys changed over time?

What are toys made from, and how are they designed and made?

What can our toys tell us about the past and our lives today?
