(Scroll down to find out about our NEW theme this term)

Over the next year we will making the most of our time at school, and you can see some of our learning highlights on our blog.

There are two Year 2 classes at Tudor:

2Q is taught by Miss Scott with Miss Higgins.

Mrs Rafiq-Craske will teach the class every Tuesday.

2R is taught by Mrs Funnell with Mrs Southcott.

Mrs Smith will teach the class every Thursday.

PE DAYS

This term our P.E. days are on Monday and Wednesday.

HOMEWORK:

In Year 2 we expect children to read to an adult every day and to have their reading records signed by an adult. For the first few weeks, they will bring home a book linked to Phonics and will keep this for the whole week. They will then be given a banded book based on their level of fluency and comprehension which should be read at least twice.  They can also share a library book with an adult.

Year 2 get two pieces of homework to complete every week.  They will be given a Maths or reading comprehension activity each week and will be given a spelling activity every week, which will include some spellings to practise and learn.

Homework is given out on Friday and due back in school by Wednesday each week.

Check out our blog throughout the term to see some of our learning.

SPRING TERM THEME – FIELD TO FORK

This term within our ‘Field to Fork’ theme we will be exploring where our food comes from and finding out more about different animals.

We will be looking at questions such as:

How would we get to different farms in the local area?

What do plants need to grow well?

What are the lifecycles of different animals?

What do animals need in order to survive?

How have our local shops changed?

We will also be reading stories with farmyard settings along with animal stories.

For more details about what we will be learning, please look at the overview at the bottom of this page.

At the bottom of the page you will also find some key information about this year.  If you have any questions please speak to us at the classroom door or pop a note in your child's red book.
