Skills, skills, skills!
Today in D&T we were practicing our cutting, peeling and juicing skills ready to make our very own fruit skewers! We did a fantastic job and we think there might be some budding chefs in year 1!

We did our computing day this week and we became digital artists. We learnt how to make different sized and style lines using the brush tool, how to make different shapes and change their appearance, and how to delete any mistakes we made. We then made our own farm picture using all of the different tools and Miss Gamble was SUPER impressed with our work!
This week we used watercolours to mix colours and paint some fields, bushes and trees in the style of Gene Brown. We are building on all of our artistic skills ready to create our final masterpieces over the next 2 weeks.
Miss Gamble is really excited to see what our final artwork is going to look like!
In maths this week we are adding one-digit numbers. We are 'thinking 10' to help us and using tens frames to help us re-group to find '10 and some more'.
this is really hard maths but we are all trying super hard and are doing really well!
The three little pigs need our help! They want us to help them build a new house to protect them against the big bad wolf. This week in D& we are testing the materials to see which are strong enough for our walls.
Yesterday in 1O we had our computing day! We learnt some new computing vocabulary such as 'algorithm' and 'debug'. We were programming the BeeBots to move around a map and around our classroom. We had so much fun and did a super job!
In 1O this week we became the artist Paul Klee! We used a section of a piece of his art work and used our pencils to continue the lines to create shapes and then used the oil pastels to colour it. We think we have some budding artists in our class!
This week we have continued to explore numbers in year 1. We have been using part whole models to regroup numbers, making cube towers and representing numbers in different ways. We have been working so hard in maths recently and Miss Gamble and Miss Foy have been super impressed with our work!
In maths this week we have been looking at all the different ways we can show a number. We have been using dice, tens frames, dominos, our fingers and Numicon to represent numbers and have been matching them up.
Our first science lesson in Year 1!
