We enjoyed learning about the first Christmas this week. We dressed up as the different characters from the story, we read the story from the Bible, we used our nativity scene in small world area in the classroom and made baby Jesus' in the creation station!
We have had a wonderful time this week in Nursery celebrating! It has been birthday week! We have made cakes, iced our cakes, decorated the classroom, sung happy birthday lots and lots of times, danced, wrapped presents and finished the week off by having a birthday party. The children really enjoyed writing their shopping lists of things we would need for the party, making paper chains to decorate the classroom and taking party bags home at the end! What a fun topic!
During this week we looked at the story of Rama and Sita. We enjoyed investigating light. We had difference sources of light including torches and enjoyed making a tent and trying out our sparkly lights, torches and led candles! The children really enjoyed playing in our class sized tent too!
We thought about soldiers who have been in wars past and present in nursery. We enjoyed making our display of poppies and thought about how we would feel if we were soldiers. We did sound counting and drawing of poppies too.
We enjoyed pretending to be fireworks on the playground and in PE this week. We talked about Guy Fawkes and used some pencil control firework sheets. We built our own fireworks out of bricks in the construction area and 'made hot chocolate' in our home corner. To end the week we watched sparklers being safely lit!
We discussed how we need to look, listen and hold our adults hands to cross the road. We made junk modelling traffic lights and investigated safe and unsafe scenarios in the investigation station. The children seemed to enjoy our Lolly Pop lady demonstration too!
