Please see below for a reminder of what to prepare for our year 5 river study trip next week:

Dear Parents and Carers,

To support with our geography learning objectives on the topic of rivers and developing our fieldwork skills we will be working with Groundwork East on a Junior River Wardens scheme at Gadebridge park on Tuesday 25th April.

The scheme aims to educate children and young people about their local river, what they can do to help protect it, and the future impacts of climate change. The activities will include testing the water for signs of pollution, looking for wildlife in and around the river, and much more.

The charity is running the session for free and we will be walking to the river shortly after 9am – the trip will last for approximately 3 hours including the journey to the river and back, and the children will be back in school in time for lunch.

We will be doing a variety of activities in and around the river, so your child will need:

  • Wellies (knee high or as close to as possible, ankle wellies will not be suitable) – please bring these in a plastic bag to change in and out of whilst at the river
  • A rain coat
  • Comfortable/ old clothes to wear on the day, including comfortable shoes for the walk to the river
  • A bottle of drinking water

Please arrive at school in the comfortable clothes as we will be leaving promptly.

If you do not want your child to take part in the trip, please contact the office.

Kind regards,

Mrs Mckenzie                                  Mr Crowder
