Newsletter 16
Wednesday 21st May 2025
Dear Parents and Carers of Tudor Primary,
It really is an exciting time in school at the moment and I am sure that this newsletter will be able to share just how our school continues to AIM HIGH for our pupils. The correct place to start is providing some additional context to the picture below:
The year 6 teaching team were SO impressed with the efforts and application of the children in their recent SAT assessments that they accepted the ice bucket challenge. For the full video, do follow the link to our school X/ twitter page. The joyous response of the children was certainly rewarding to see and hear. Worryingly, however, it appears that I have been nominated by Mrs Wood to receive the next buckets of icey water. And there was me thinking that all those buckets of (stinky!) gunge that I’ve received at our school functions over the years would have been enough… clearly not! Whilst the results will not be available until July, the team are quietly confident of an(other!) awesome year for academic achievement at Tudor. Not only do we continue to get super results and progress for all, the number of children that achieve the highest scores possible is really tremendous.
The overall outcomes for our school though are due to the sustained efforts of us all over a number of years. There have been so many visitors to my room recently and the quality of work throughout the school is fantastic to see.
Our excellent attendance also evidences a real commitment from parents and we should not underestimate how important the partnership we have is.

Inclusion at Tudor Primary- a message from Miss Reading- our Leader for Inclusion:
Delivering Special Provision Locally (DSPL8), have recently published their summer newsletter. This provides information about a variety of workshops and support for parents/carers, including 'Handling Anger of Children with Autism and ADHD', 'Navigating Transitions', 'Reducing Conflict' and 'Tips and Tools to Manage Anxiety/Build Self-Esteem/Support Communication'. You can find the newsletter by using the following link: https://dacorumdspl.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/PARENTSCARERS-Summer-1-2025.pdf If your child has an individual support plan, you will have received, or will soon be receiving, the 'Support Plan Preparation Sheet' from your child's class teacher. Please spend time with your child completing this form, as this information will formulate your child's 'one page profile' and will provide details about your child's strengths, what is important to them and how they like to be supported - information that will support a smooth transition in to the next year group.
‘Love with limits’- In our last newsletter, Miss Reading shared some information about parental engagement. From conversations on the gate, it is pleasing to see that many of you valued this. Being a parent is NOT easy and I have no difficulty in saying that raising two children of my own is more difficult that looking after 447 children that belong to other people!
I have shared the headlines of the evidence-based research again. Children of authoritative parents, who also show love and affection, are more likely to become competent, confident, self-controlled, content, happy and resilient individuals.

Sports Update- Mr Higgins continues to be a tremendous sports leader for our school and he was super excited this week to see that we have now achieved PLATINUM status for our provision of sport and activity.
This award recognises the commitment and investment (in lots of ways) to sport for all our learners- they are truly active! These last few weeks have also seen the success of our new approach to swimming- the feedback from children has been great and there have been many magical moments of progress that are simply LIFE-CHANGING! Well done all…
Attendance UPDATE- We should all be proud of the success at Tudor and you can be assured that the staff team will continue to give their all in this final term of the year.
Whilst there is still a small percentage of children who are persistent absentees, it is evident which families work with us in the BEST interests of their children. Thank you AGAIN to the vast majority of parents who are honest in their communication for any unavoidable absences. Schools have a DUTY to know where children are- even when they are NOT in school and please do not prioritise holidays over your child’s education. Children who attend well, ACHIEVE well- now AND in the future.
I REALLY hope that you will be supporting our Tudor 50th celebrations and I look forward to seeing the Tudor community having fun at the circus and disco. A BIG THANK YOU to Claire and the Friends of Tudor who work tirelessly to make every day even more special for your children. Talking of THANKS, check out the tremendous charity work of Paige at school who raised £1000 by donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust- what a gesture!
Let’s look forward to a wonderful final half term of the academic year- this is when all that hard work comes together. A key personal pledge of mine remains unchanged: EVERY child will see me EVERY day at school. I remain delighted at the quality of the teaching team that we have in place and the future certainly looks bright. Let’s ALL aim high and do EVERYTHING we can to help the Tudor children succeed, flourish… and have fun!
