Newsletter 18

Wednesday 26th June 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our last newsletter shared the fantastic feedback from our summer county advisor visit. It really was a SUPER report with wonderful comments being made about the school and I am delighted to share that we have continued to receive more positive news about Tudor. In the last few weeks there have been a number of statutory tests taking place in schools and we look forward to sharing the Tudor outcomes with you very soon. An area that we continue to excel in is how well our more able pupils achieve. We are incredibly aspirational for our pupils and to see how many Tudorites achieve the highest levels of attainment is fantastic to see- in fact there are few schools around that can match our success. We have just received additional assessment for our year 6 writing and to see that 50% MORE children achieve the greater depth levels in our school than Dacorum, county and national averages in TRULY awesome. Our teaching team really is SPECIAL!

As well as getting super results, I am confident that the children flourish because of the engaging way that the learning is presented. Our Tudor thematic curriculum gets great feedback- especially from the children. We love to see how it inspires so many children to continue their learning at home too. The level of independence in reception is awesome too- they really are FLYING. The future is STRONG!

Talking of the future (well… next year!), there will be minimal change in the teaching team. We continue to have a good balance of experienced teachers and those who are at still early in their career and I am confident in saying that EVERY child is able to flourish. The table below shows how the teaching team is organised from September.

The office will also send this information to all parents by email in a separate letter- mind you, I am sure that EVERYONE reads these newsletters as well as keeping an eye on our regularly updated website.  As most parents will know, the only time there is some ‘mixing’ of the classes is following reception and this is to ensure that classes are balanced in respect of needs. We remain one of the few schools who can continue to offer AT LEAST one full-time teaching assistant in every class. Such budgeting decisions are becoming harder to deliver each year but do be assured that your children’s education and social development will ALWAYS remain our priority. Whilst I trust that this first page of the newsletter evidences lots of good news stories about Tudor, it is the commitment shown by the VAST majority of families to a consistent experience of education that has the BIGGEST impact on the children’s wellbeing. Tudor’s attendance figures really are an indicator that we are DOING the RIGHT THINGS! And yes… our target is STILL 97%. 😊

Inclusion at Tudor Primary- a message from Miss Reading- our Leader for Inclusion:

This half term children and staff will be engaging in a range of transition activities, ensuring a smooth and effective transition from one year group to the next. All staff will be involved in handover meetings and children will be provided with the opportunity to spend time in their new classrooms, they will meet their new teachers and receive either a transition booklet or fact sheet, detailing information about their new class.  At our most recent 'Tudor Coffee Morning', we discussed how both staff and parents/carers can support children with feelings of anxiety that change can cause. If you were unable to attend and would like more information about how we support children with transition, or advice on how you can support your child with this, please do come and find me on the playground, at the beginning or end of the school day.

End of Year Parent Reports- make sure YOUR child is represented…2/3 of families booked on so far

I hope you have made an appointment to represent your child at their end of year consultation. Each family will receive their child's final written report including progress information and key targets for next year.  EVERY child deserves to be represented at these meetings.  If you are unable to attend the dates we have available please contact the school. Your engagement is of huge importance and we look forward to seeing you all.

EXTRA CARE PROVISION AT TUDOR- extending our BREAKFAST provision and the SUMMER HANGOUT!

Following requests from the parent community, we are excited to share that our brilliant breakfast provision is going to get even BETTER. From September, we will be opening breakfast club at 7.30am. Whilst costs will increase a little, we will also be introducing a pricing structure that offers bespoke solutions. Each day will be £5 from 7.30am or £4 from 8am. Considering the range (and quality) of activities, as well as the tasty, nutritious food on offer, it sets the standard in extra care provision.

We are also delighted to share our plans for the Summer ‘Hangout in the Holiday’. Once again, we are offering extended hours of high-quality provision for a super price of £35 per day as well as a discount for full-week bookings which can reduce the daily price to just £30- WOW! A further email has been sent to all parents giving more information.

I do hope you enjoy reading our regular newsletters. More importantly, I hope you are as proud as I am to be part of #TeamTUDOR. The school’s reputation is strong and whilst it is rewarding to share the positive news (and feeling!) that permeates our school, it is our ability to be respond to any problematic situations (or occasional concerns of parents) that helps maintain that trust between home and school. Such a relationship is the true energy that can drive a school and there is clear evidence that the vast majority of parents want the BEST for their children. Whether at home or in school, taking the more challenging path is often the most rewarding- do remember recent information shared by Miss Reading about authoritative parents and the positive impact that this has on children.

Talking of challenging paths, well done to Miss Gamble and Mr Wendleken who conquered Mount Snowdon at the weekend- an impressive achievement ahead of a busy (but vital!) final month of the year in school. EVERY DAY REALLY COUNTS.

My final snippet of news to share relates to a call I received from county admissions last week. As they shared information about a number of appeals for spaces that were currently being heard, they shared that:

‘The popularity of Tudor has exploded’

and

‘The level of interest in the school is outrageous’.

HOW COOL IS THAT…

We are ALL #TeamTUDOR!
