What a wonderful way to start the second half of the school year.
Newsletter 10
Wednesday 25th February
Dear Parents/Carers,
Since the last newsletter was shared with you all, the school has received a full day inspection-style visit from our county advisor. There is an updated Ofsted framework for schools now in place and the county advisor undertook a range of inspection activities during the day. This included lesson observations, meetings with school leaders, an analysis of our outcomes (in a range of areas) as well as lots of time spent with children. The report we received after the inspection should THRILL us all. The comments below are just some of the many positive things that were recognised about the practice at Tudor.

There has been a lot of positive information shared about the school recently in our newsletters and, as we use the mid-point of the year to evaluate the provision in place, we hope that this fills you with lots of pride. The screenshot of the overall summary reads amazingly too- such feedback really is quite rare. The children get a GREAT deal.

The atmosphere around school remains positive and the break and lunch periods are incredibly calm overall. That is not to say everything is perfect and there aren’t any issues! After all, we are a school of over 440 children and they are all different. Children DO experience problems at times and this IS part of growing up. In many ways, despite the multitude of positive reports on the score regarding academic outcomes and our curriculum, it has been the pupil voice responses and evidence on how the children feel safe and supported that delights #TeamTudor the most. The relationships at Tudor truly set us apart and this is why so many other schools are coming to find out more about us.
So much has been happening in school recently that it will be hard to fit everything in this newsletter! The ‘Fairy Tale Day’ in our EYFS was very well received and the children (and staff) just loved getting dressed up as part of their recent themed work. The writing standards that such efforts generated were really impressive. A special mention to Sir Harry who sat proudly on his Tudor throne. He looks TudorTASTIC!

Talking of special people, you may have noticed that Ms Smith has not been in school recently. Following the school’s super performance in our spring inspection, we were asked to provide support and guidance to a school dealing with some significant challenges. Such opportunities to share expertise are important as they provide ways for our own team to further enhance their skill-set. Whilst Ms Smith looks forward to returning next week to Tudor, Miss Reading and the rest of #TeamTudor have stepped up wonderfully well. Well done EVERYONE!
Inclusion at Tudor Primary- a message from Miss Reading- our Leader for Inclusion:
The Dacorum Families SEND Information Fayre will take place on Thursday 5th March, 9:30am–12:30pm at Bennetts End Community Centre. This event is a great opportunity to connect with local SEND service providers, gather information, and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee! You can register your attendance using the booking link below, although walk-ins are very welcome on the day: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/dspl8-parents-and-carers-send-information-fayre-tickets-1981135405328?aff=oddtdtcreator. We are currently in the second 'Support Plan Window' of this academic year. If your child has an Individual Support Plan, please prioritise arranging a meeting with your child’s class teacher to review previous targets and agree on next steps. Working in close partnership - school staff, children, and parents/carers, is essential to ensuring that every child at Tudor is fully supported to achieve their potential.

‘My child needs a one to one’ As a mainstream school, Tudor has a duty to offer reasonable (and appropriate) adjustments in place for children (and families) to flourish. Tudor is not alone in experiencing more and more ‘informal demands’ to provide 1:1 learning support for children. We are proud of what we are able to deliver in our school (and our success) but do recognise that such decisions can only be made in exceptional circumstances. Misinformation being spread (often online) about schools having to offer such provision does not help the situation. Our goal is for all children to be independent and ready for the challenges of the future.
Partnership with Parents! Our Spring Term consultation evenings were very well attended. The mid-year reports provide the perfect time to share how well the children are progressing- academically and socially. Thank you for valuing the partnership we have- whilst school is a key part of their development, we can only supplement what the children get from the most important people in their lives- their family.

Hangout in the Holidays- Summer 2026 The Tudor team will be ready and prepared to offer summer provision from Wednesday 22nd July to Friday 7th August. We will be investing in fun, creative, sporting and artistic activities that will enthuse and delight the children. We believe the club will be excellent value and we will be offering further discounts to those who make block bookings for each week. We will start at 8.30am and we will be open until 4.30pm each day. Booking opens soon via Arbor.

Dates for your diary!
Tudor Book Day: 6th March
Class assemblies this term:
2R- 12th March
1P-19th March
Sports Day (R-Y6):
Mon 13th July
The POWER OF READING! Monday’s assembly reminded the children of the importance of regular reading. The positive impact on your child of reading just 20 minutes a day is HUGE!

Do ask your children about their reading- after all, it will always be the MOST IMPORTANT homework of all. Do they know:
What are they currently reading?
Who is the author?
What is the genre?
What types of books do they most enjoy?
Don’t forget we have our Tudor Book Day activities (and competitions!) on Friday 6th March. There has been a separate letter for this. Prizes to be WON!
In the same assembly, I also shared with the children how the second half of the school year is when the progress really increases. It will also go very quickly! There is so much planned in (and out!) of school and we should all feel excited for what is in store. Our amazing year 6 children will soon be finding out about future school placements- we know they will continue to flourish! They are truly an awesome cohort with supportive parents who have worked in partnership with us throughout their time here. As many ex-pupils continue to share with us, children really look back fondly at their time at Tudor Primary. EVERY DAY counts in school- it’s where the future STARTS!
Whatever your next school is, you will always be TRULY #TeamTUDOR.
