So much fun to be had for all at #TeamTudor
Newsletter 11
Friday 20th March
Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been three weeks since our last school newsletter and the positive vibes at school continue. Whilst school must maintain a focus on the quality of teaching and learning in the classroom, we are proud of those extra/ memorable activities that Tudorites are able to benefit from. The children were able to enjoy a surprise theatre performance of the Wizard of Oz last Friday- the atmosphere inside the hall was great to see.

Not only are children in year 1 raising a number of chicks at the moment in their classroom they have been off to the farm for a fun day out.

Year 2 enjoyed a day at Whipsnade and there is still so much fun to be had! The children just love a trip out on a bus! Our choir are soon to be special guests at the grand opening of a local housing development- we are obviously a school of celebrities…

Providing outreach and support to other schools
I shared in the last newsletter that Ms Smith had been supporting with the leadership of another Hertfordshire school. Being asked to share expertise across the county reflects very favourably on our school. Whilst Tudor certainly remains our priority, supporting other schools is a true privilege. As well as my own position as a lead headteacher on the Dacorum behaviour board, Ms Smith is able to support other schools as well as the University of Hertfordshire. Miss Reading has now been asked to be a lead SENCo for decision making for local funding- wow! We also continue to be an exemplar for other schools for high-quality teaching provision as well as our thematic curriculum. Being able to moderate/ compare our practice (and capacity) with many other schools is important and we truly believe that our children get a great deal. Talking of ensuring we can work efficiently as well as effectively…
Use those CLEAR lines of communication
The following has been shared on the website for an extended period but please be aware of how our school is structured. As one of the LARGEST primary schools in the county, there is a published order of what to do if you need support. First and foremost, the classteacher (and/or TA) for your child is the person that will (or should!) know about the situation. This could be from anything from support in class to situations at break. After this, you also have the opportunity speak to the phase leader and/or senior leaders if you require further engagement. The leadership structure for Tudor is as follows:
Phase leadership:
Mrs Price- EYFS, Miss Scott- Y1/2, Mr Munro- Y3/4, Mrs Wood-Y5/6.
Senior Leadership:
Assistant Head for Inclusion- Miss Reading (SEND/ attendance)
Ms Smith (Behaviour/ Safeguarding)
Few schools have such extended capacity for supporting the community. As headteacher that pledges to see EVERY child, EVERY day, my core duty is to ensure that EVERYTHING(!) is working and to ensure quality assurance at every level. If you ever have any questions (or worries), please do speak to those that will have the most information. I remain available to all but do recognise that I am unlikely to have all the information- especially if a parent (or child) has not even spoken to the classteacher in the first place. As my last newsletter shared, there WILL be situations of challenge in any school but we WILL be able to respond (at every level!) if we are informed about it and enabled to support! We should all be proud of what countless visitors and advisors (and children!) say about the behaviour (and attendance) at Tudor- it evidences the HIGHEST standards.
Inclusion at Tudor Primary- a message from Miss Reading- our Leader for Inclusion:
This week is 'Neurodiversity Celebration Week'. During my assembly children in Years 2-6 explored what neurodiversity means and developed an understanding that everyone’s brain works in different and unique ways. We focused on the many strengths and positive qualities associated with neurodiversity and we discussed the importance of showing empathy, kindness, and respect for differences. We have now come to the end of this term’s Support Plan Window. Thank you to all parents and carers who were involved in reviewing their child’s previous targets and in creating new ones. As previously shared, parent and carer involvement in the support plan process is incredibly valuable in helping us to support your child in the best possible way. Your contributions and collaboration make a real difference.
We DO have some spaces for Nursery in September 2026
Tudor Primary’s popularity for new parents is tremendous and 165 families requested a space for reception in September 2026. We could have filled up our 60 spaces with first choices alone. Whilst the application process is not quite complete for nursery, we do have some spaces left to fill. If you know of any nursery-aged children for 2026-2027, then we would love them to experience our high-quality provision. We offer 15 hours of excellent care per week and, if you do want 30 hours (or even more!), our partnership with Little Fawns could be the solution you are looking for.
School lunches- slight increase in price
From the summer term, there will be a 10p increase in the price of lunches. We are truly lucky we have a super team from Herts Catering that work with us at Tudor each day and we hope as many children are able to use the school meals service as possible. There are a range of choices each day and a tasty school lunch is the true healthy option each day.
Hangout Easter Party and Hangout in the Holidays The Hangout team are excited to share their Easter Party on Thursday 26th March. They are already taking bookings for the summer provision from Wednesday 22nd July to Friday 7th August. We believe our club is excellent value and we will be offering further summer holiday discounts to those who make block bookings for each week. Booking is now open on Arbor.

PLEASE ensure your child is wearing the CORRECT uniform
Tudor’s uniform policy is smart, supportive, equitable and EASY to follow. Your child should only be wearing FULLY black shoes (no colourful designs, swishes, labels, laces, soles). Being restricted from the field for non-compliance helped remind a few individuals last year so thanks in advance for your help! Also- simple studs (no fancy designs/ hoops) are the only earrings allowed. More info at: https://www.tudor.herts.sch.uk/page/?title=Uniform&pid=28
Since the last newsletter, our amazing year 6 children were informed of the (initial) allocation of secondary schools. To see that 93% of our children got their FIRST-choice school is really pleasing. Whatever school they will be off to in September, we believe that Tudorites will set the right standards. Only last week we received an email from a parent of a child of an ex-pupil who is now in year 7.

To hear that secondary leaders speak so positively about #TeamTudor should make us all proud. Oh… and one more thing- Tudor Primary was nominated for (and WON!) a NISA ‘Heart of the Community Award’- the £1000 prize award will certainly be put to good use.

Well done everyone! Tudor TRULY sets the standard- in so many ways! Let’s make EVERY DAY count.
