Summer is here! New themes, high standards, LOTS of fun!
Newsletter 12
Wednesday 22nd April
Dear Parents and Carers,
The summer term is here! The start of each term brings renewed excitement and joy and the current atmosphere around school is super. The children (and staff!) have settled wonderfully and we look forward to a fantastic final push for this academic year. The classrooms are looking INSPIRING and READY for the new themes. They are:
EYFS- All Creatures Great and Small
KS1- Seaside Rescue
LKS2- What a Wonderful World
UKS2- Step Back in Time
It is a rather exciting period for a number of other reasons and I would like to welcome Mrs Massey to the teaching team. Not only will she be teaching in year 2 to cover Mrs Funnell’s maternity, she is now a permanent member of staff. As I share on tours of the school, ensuring that we have a high-quality team is a vital part of my role and I am delighted with the ongoing interest of teachers wanting to work at Tudor Primary. Our partnership work with other schools is clearly helping: our reputation means that a position at Tudor is highly sought after.
I trust that you all keep a close eye on our website- the update at the end of last term was full of positive news.

Not only are our Tudor teams achieving well on the sports field (the football team reached the district semi-finals and also won the plate competition last week in the district tournament), our dance squad were able to achieve second place in the Dacorum Dance Championships. Led by Miss Barry, they did amazingly well and they were delighted to share their award-winning routine (and trophy!) with the school at the end of term- we were all SO impressed!

Our new (onsite!) approach to swimming continues to work well and the children really do make good progress. Time out of school is minimised and the highly bespoke approach is enjoyed by all. Feedback so far has been great- well done to all those who are helping make this WORK! 😊
It is an exciting (and nervous!) time for those families looking for a space in our reception classes for 2026-2027. Once again, we had tremendous interest and our full allocation of spaces was snapped up! (If you are reading this newsletter as a BRAND-NEW parent- WELCOME!) Tudor Primary is clearly the place to be and that should make us all feel very proud. I have been sent a number of supportive screenshots on social media about our reputation and we are thrilled with how the vast majority of parents speak positively about their children’s school. Please be aware that the application process is not quite complete for nursery and we do have some spaces left to fill. If you know of any nursery-aged children for 2026-2027, then we would love them to experience our high-quality provision. We offer 15 hours of excellent care per week and, if you do want 30 hours (or even more!), our partnership with Little Fawns is the perfect solution.

Could your child be a young carer?
It is estimated that up to 1 in 5 children are young carers. If you think your child has such responsibility, this might feel overwhelming and you might be worried about seeking support. More information on our website at- https://www.tudor.herts.sch.uk/news/?pid=3&nid=1&storyid=2201
You can also contact Ms Smith (Deputy head) via the school office- school is here to HELP and we are keen to support.
Inclusion at Tudor Primary- a message from Miss Reading- our Leader for Inclusion:
We have recently updated Tudor School’s Information Report. This explains how we support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Take a look to find out more about our provision at Tudor:
https://www.tudor.herts.sch.uk/page/?title=Special+Education+Needs+and+Disabilities&pid=114
We welcome your feedback—whether it’s something you found helpful or suggestions for additional information you would like us to include. Please feel free to email me at inco@tudor.herts.sch.uk.
You may also have seen news coverage about the government’s proposed reforms to the SEND system in England. The Department for Education has produced some easy-to-read leaflets for parents and carers. These share what the proposed changes could mean and what to expect if your child has SEND. You can find these leaflets in the SEND/Family Links section of the school website (scroll to the bottom of the page).

Freewheel Friday to start this week- This fun opportunity RETURNS on Friday 24th April. Please remember that this club is weather (and staff) dependent and we aim to give you as much notice as possible about any changes in plan. Like before, children from Reception to Year 3 require (appropriate) adult supervision. The Tudor Towers will also be accessible but there will be NO football allowed on the field. The focus is on providing safe opportunities for children to play and develop those biking and scooting skills. Check that bikes and scooters are in suitable condition and PLEASE provide your child with safety equipment. We are proud of this opportunity but it only works when we have good cooperation from the parent community!
Use those CLEAR lines of communication- As one of the LARGEST primary schools in the county, there is a published order of what to do if you need support. First and foremost, the class teacher (and/or TA) for your child is the person that will (or should!) know about the situation. This could be anything from support in class to situations at break. After this, you also have the opportunity to speak to the phase leader and/or senior leaders if you require further engagement. The leadership structure for Tudor is as follows:
Phase leadership:
Mrs Price- EYFS, Miss Scott- Y1/2, Mr Munro- Y3/4, Mrs Wood-Y5/6.
Senior Leadership:
Assistant Head for Inclusion- Miss Reading (SEND/ attendance)
Deputy Headteacher- Ms Smith (Behaviour/ Safeguarding)
Few schools have such extended capacity for supporting the community. As headteacher I pledge to see EVERY child, EVERY day, my core duty is to ensure that EVERYTHING(!) is working and to ensure quality assurance at every level. If you ever have any questions (or worries), please do speak to those that will have the most information.
Hangout in the Holidays We are already taking bookings for the summer provision from Wednesday 22nd July to Friday 7th August. We believe our club is excellent value and we will be offering further summer holiday discounts to those who make block bookings for each week. Booking is now open on Arbor.

Tudor’s uniform policy is smart, supportive, equitable and EASY to follow. Your child should only be wearing FULLY black shoes (no colourful designs, swishes, labels, laces, soles). Being restricted from the field for non-compliance helped remind a few individuals last year so thanks in advance for your help! Also- simple studs (no fancy designs/ hoops) are the only earrings allowed. More info at:https://www.tudor.herts.sch.uk/page/?title=Uniform&pid=28
Let’s make this last term count. EVERY DAY matters and we are extremely proud of the overwhelmingly positive relationship we have with our community. Whether it’s with academic progress, social happiness or sporting success, let’s make sure we are ALL #TEAMTudor.
