Welcome to Year 1
(Scroll down to find out about our NEW theme this term)
Over the next year we will making the most of our time at school, and you will see some of our learning highlights on our blog, which means our families at home will be able to see what we get up to in school.
There are two Year 1 classes at Tudor:
1O - is taught by Miss Gamble and Miss North.
1P - is taught by Miss Foy and Mrs Barry.
Each week, 1O is taught by Miss Cohen for one morning and 1P by Mrs Rafiq for one full day.
PE DAYS
This term our P.E. days are on Tuesday and Thursday.
HOMEWORK:
In Year 1 we expect children to read every night and have their reading records signed by an adult. They will bring home a book linked to their Phonics lessons each week and will keep this for the whole week. They can also share a library book with an adult. We will be setting weekly tasks linked to Phonics and Maths.
Homework will be given out each Friday and will be due in the following Wednesday. Reading books will be changed every Friday.
Spring term theme – From Field to Fork
This term, within our ‘From Field to Fork’ theme, we will be learning about where our food comes from. In English we will be looking at books such as ‘What the ladybird heard’ and ‘The Scarecrows Wedding’.

We will be looking at questions such as:
Where does our food come from?
What makes a healthy diet?
How is food from the field changed before we eat it?
At the bottom of the page you will also find some key information about this year. If you have any questions, please speak to us at the classroom door or pop a note in your child's red book.
