(Scroll down to find out about our NEW theme this term)

Over the next year we will making the most of our time at school, and you can see some of our learning highlights on our blog.

There are two Year 2 classes at Tudor:

2Q is taught by Miss Scott with Miss Higgins.

Mrs Rafiq-Craske will teach the class every Tuesday.

2R is taught by Mrs Funnell with Mrs Southcott.

Mrs Smith will teach the class every Thursday.

PE DAYS

This term our P.E. days are on Monday and Wednesday.

HOMEWORK:

In Year 2 we expect children to read to an adult every day and to have their reading records signed by an adult. For the first few weeks, they will bring home a book linked to Phonics and will keep this for the whole week. They will then be given a banded book based on their level of fluency and comprehension which should be read at least twice.  They can also share a library book with an adult.

Year 2 get two pieces of homework to complete every week.  They will be given a Maths or reading comprehension activity each week and will be given a spelling activity every week, which will include some spellings to practise and learn.

Homework is given out on Friday and due back in school by Wednesday each week.

Check out our blog throughout the term to see some of our learning.

SUMMER TERM THEME – Seaside Rescue

Our theme this term is ‘Seaside Rescue’.  We’ll be exploring different habitats, naming the seas and oceans, investigating climates and finding out more about seaside holidays in the past.

We will be looking at questions such as:

What features can we find at the seaside?

What creatures can we find in different habitats and microhabitats?

How has the seaside changed over time?

What were seaside holidays like in the past?

How do we stay safe at the seaside?

We will also be reading stories with seaside settings and writing both non-fiction and fiction texts linked to our learning.

For more details about what we will be learning please look at the overview at the bottom of this page.  Check out our Year 2 blog to find out what we’ve been doing in class every week too.  If you have any questions during the term then please speak to us at the classroom door or pop a note in your child's red book.
