Welcome to Year 4

About us ...

We have two year 4 classes at Tudor School. 4U’s class teacher is Mr Munro who is assisted by Mrs Knight, and 4V’s class teacher is Miss Tripp who is assisted by Mrs  Selvaganesan. Additionally, Mrs Rafiq-Craske teaches in 4V for a day each week and Mr Higgins and Mrs Smith teach in 4U for half a day each.

Mr Munro is our phase leader for Lower Key Stage 2.

PE

During the first half term, the children will be participating in swimming lessons. These will take place instead of one of their usual PE slots. The children will have two weeks of daily lessons on the weeks commencing 28th April and 12th May. Please see additional communication for further details.

Normal PE days are still:

4U - Tuesday and Thursday                         4V - Monday and Thursday

Homework

Given out on Fridays, handed in on Wednesdays. Reading every day (approximately 15 minutes per day).

Please do look through our 'Welcome to Year 4' powerpoint below, where you will find further information that will support both you and your children as you start a fabulous new year with us.

SUMMER TERM THEME - TOMB RAIDERS

It’s time to take a trip down the river Nile! If our topics were a three-course meal this year, this one would definitely be the ‘desert’. We ‘Camel’ wait to get started learning about the Ancient Egyptians this term.

Who were the Ancient Egyptians?

Why did they build the pyramids?

How do we know about them now?

What was it like to live as an Egyptian?

What happened to them?

How were people mummified?

This term we will be aiming to answer these and other questions about the Ancient Egyptians.

For more details about the learning, please have a look at the overview at the bottom of the page and check our blog regularly to find out what we have been learning about during our ‘Tomb Raiders’ topic.
