Spring Theme – Extreme Environments
Get ready to explore the most challenging places on Earth! This term we’ll be venturing into extreme environments and learning about incredible explorers who dared to go there, including Ernest Shackleton and other pioneers of survival and discovery.
We’ll be covering questions such as:
What are extreme environments?
Where in the world can they be found?
Why did explorers choose to travel to such dangerous places?
Who was Ernest Shackleton and why is he famous?
What challenges did explorers face in places like Antarctica, deserts, and jungles?

And…
How did explorers survive in extreme cold or heat?
What equipment and clothing did they need to stay safe?
How do people live in extreme environments today?
What can we learn from explorers about teamwork and resilience?

This Spring term, we’ll embark on an exciting adventure to explore some of the most extreme environments on Earth and learn about the remarkable explorers who braved them, including Ernest Shackleton. We’ll be investigating how people survive in these challenging conditions and uncovering answers to all these fascinating questions—and plenty more!
For more details about our different subjects, please check the overview at the bottom of this page.
Also, do keep an eye on our blog (which we aim to update weekly) for all our exciting learning.
If you have any questions, feel free to pop a note in the red book, and we can arrange a meeting or a phone call as needed.
