SUMMER TERM THEME-STEP BACK IN TIME

How has Britain changed since 1945? What was it like to be a teenager in the 1980s? How did people communicate before mobile phones? Was life REALLY better, back in the day?

This term we are going all Marty Mcfly and stepping back into the past. Not too far back, but looking at how the country has changed after the Second World War. We will be thinking about the hows and whys, plus spending time thinking about how Hemel Hempstead has gone through a few changes too (Tudor School opening being a big one!).

We will be looking at questions such as:

How did Hemel Hempstead grow into a town?

Why is having a river in the town important?

Which decade had the best fashion?

How is music and how we listen to it different now?

What would a historian need to find out about how we live now?

What happened at Buncesfield?

How do we think Hemel will change in the future?

What are the most significant events that have changed our country?

What was the Windrush?

All of these questions and many more will be looked at. For more detail about what we will be learning please look at the overview at the bottom of this page.

It looks like this:

If you have any questions please pop a note in your child's red book and we will get back to you as soon as possible...
