  • Punch and Judy visit Tudor School!

    Published 06/07/26, by Gabby Gamble

We were so lucky last week to have a visit from a Punch and Judy show. The show itself was so funny and we also learnt some really interesting facts about the show...

    Did you know?
The show was originally from Italy and when it came to the UK, Punch was  actually called Punchinello, and eventually got shortened to Punch!

That's the way to do it!!

In PE this week, Mr Higgins transported us to the seaside for a round of crazy golf! We had a variety of different, challenging holes to navigate using our tri-golf skills we have learnt over the past few weeks. Even though we were battling a sea breeze in Hemel Hempstead, we had so much fun!

  • Brilliant Boats!

    Published 29/06/26, by Gabby Gamble

As part of our 'Seaside Rescue' topic, we have learnt a lot about the RNLI. This week is seaside week and for our science lesson we had a go at making our own boats. We had 3 attempts and then tested our boats in water to see how many 'crew members' (cubes) our boats could hold before sinking.
Miss Gamble was SUPER impressed because some of our first attempts held more than 40 crew members!! We think we have some future boat designers in Year 1!

We are looking forward to some more fun activities during our seaside week!

  • Fraction frenzy

    Published 19/06/26, by Gabby Gamble

We have been learning fractions in maths recently. We have learnt that to split something in half we need two equal parts, and quarters is four equal parts. We put this into practice today using playdoh. We made some different shapes and then had a go at splitting them into halves and quarters. We did a brilliant job and it's something we can practice at home too!

  • Searching for Signs of Spring

    Published 20/04/26, by Gabby Gamble

In science we went for a nature walk to look for signs of spring. The trees in our orchard are starting to blossom and we even found some buds which are about to flower. We saw lots of daisies and dandelions in the grass and even found a moth on a tree which was really well camouflaged. Some trees have lots of leaves and some are just beginning to grow. We really enjoyed seeing the signs of new life and we are exited for the weather to get warmer too!

As I'm sure the children have told you, we have spent the past 5 weeks incubating, hatching and raising baby chicks.

We have been so good at looking after them and the children have grown very attached to them. We are really going to miss them when they go to their new home next week.

Here are some of our favourite chick pics to remember them by.

We then made our own farm picture using all of the different tools and Miss Gamble was SUPER impressed with our work!
